Podcast Episode #63: Earl McClellan - Conquer Fear with Faith

Posted: Apr 24 2017

Earl is the Lead Pastor of Shoreline Dallas. He has been in full-time ministry for 18 years. He and his beautiful wife Oneka with their two handsome boys moved to Dallas to launch Shoreline Dallas Church.  A vibrant church with over 1,000 people who call Shoreline their home. It’s only been three years since the launch and God has been doing amazing things there.  His vision is to see “On Earth as it is in Heaven.”

Sometimes we misinterpret the advice and encouragement of those closest to us as criticism.  We must face our own insecurities to truly be open to hearing from others.

Are your insecurities a blessing or a stronghold?

2 Corinthians 11:30  “If I must boast, I would rather boast about the things that show how weak I am.”

Don’t let anyone else build your world for you because they will always build it too small.

Don’t pass your destiny/call onto others.

We choose not to let what someone has said about us, an authority figure, affect how we build our whole identity and world. Our influence and identity is found only in the what Jesus has done on the cross.

We can break down the walls because He has bigger plans for us than what we set for ourselves.

Practicing Humility

When we get a pat on the back, a compliment, we can choose to take off our “crowns” and present them to God for HIS glory.

Remind your heart who really is in control.  We have an expiration date, but Jesus reigns forever.

Fight for humility.  Lay down your work and your heart before Jesus.

Battling Fears

Fear is a liar.  We battle fear in many forms throughout our lives.

We have to make decision to rely on God and believe what he has said instead of what our fears say.

We should rather be a water-walking-sometimes-sinking disciple instead of one that never leaves the boat.

Go, take a step, live in the miraculous rather than the mundane.

Surround yourself with people that can help your vision come to life. It doesn't mean you have to know and do everything.

It should be wider and bigger than you.

It's Not About You

Young leaders need to learn to get their eyes off of themselves.

We are all here for a reason in this time and this generation.  We can't keep looking in the mirror to find significance and meaning, we must look to our Creator. Focus our attention more on Him.

Don't waste so much time on things that doesn't matter in the long run.
