DEALING WITH BETRAYAL
Finding Your Calling
God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called.
God only wants us to be willing enough; we don't have to be old enough, experienced enough, smart enough, ready enough, etc.
God writes a much better story than we could write for ourselves.
Sometimes God asks us to give up / sacrifice something we love for Him to work in our lives.
Our jobs are not our security, only God can be that security.
Dealing with Hurt/ Betrayal
Be emotionally honest and don't over spiritualize the pain.
“Thoughts disentangle themselves when they pass through the lips and the fingertips.”
Be honest publicly and privately.
We should own our emotions instead of letting them own us.
It’s easy to downplay the emotional aspect of hurt and betrayal, but it's necessary and healthy to be open & transparent about it.
Taking Ownership
Don’t point fingers and put all the blame on others.
Questions to ask in order to grow from painful experiences:
- What can I learn from this experience for the future?
- What can I find that I did wrong in the situation?
- What can I own?
- How can I handle a situation like this better in the future?
Don’t let setbacks hold you back from what God has called you to do.
We don't have to be victims of other people’s decisions and sin.
"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." Romans 12:18
Be willing to be at peace and walk in forgiveness even when others don’t deserve it.
Dealing with people letting you down is inevitable. Jesus was let down and betrayed, too. It hurts, but we can choose to let God help us grow through these situations.
